Today i stepped on a nail, and i\m not sure what to do about it. what should i do?

today i stepped on a nail, and it hurt reallky bad, and now i am really scared if it would be infected or not, i have that tetanus shot, so i think itll be fine, but do you hthink it will be okay?

Ok, how serious was the wound? If it was only minor and stopped bleeding quickly, then it should be ok, but you must keep it covered with a dressing to prevent it getting infected. At night when you're in bed, take the dressing off and let it get some air. Try and get hold of some anti septic cream, and apply this to the wound.


If the wound is more serious, if the nail went very deep, you lost a lot of blood, or if you still feel dizzy as you described, you should really seek medical advice. I don't know where you're on holiday, but if it's some kind of resort, there's sure to be a first aider somewhere. Or even if you're just staying in a good hotel, ask at reception whether there's a first aider, and get their advice on it. I would definitely go see a doctor. It could get infected, and they will be able to tell. If it is, they can try and do something about it before it gets bad. For now, I'd say take some ibuprofen for the pain, and wash it really good. If you do go to the doctor, maybe take the nail with you. You might need another Tetanus booster, as they recommend patients get vaccinated after stepping on rusty nails and such. Good luck, I'm sure it'll be fine!
